Hollins Green Community Shop

We were delighted to support a local group who approached us in 2013 to help them create a community shop in Hollins Green.

Working with the group we sought to find suitable premises perfectly located at the heart of the Hollins Green community. Previously a living space as part of the house next door, the single storey extension was purchased and converted into a separate property with new facilities, entrance, shop front and external paved area. Some structural changes were completed to the interior to make the property fit for purpose.

The idea for the shop came from the results of the Parish Plan Survey in 2010 which highlighted that local people wanted a community shop. The Shopping Action Group, who formed to manage the project was successful in raising capital of £9,500 coming from ‘Awards for All’ and a loan of £40,000 from local charity Hamilton Davies Trust.

Opened in February 2015, the shop is now fully operational and offers the community access to a local general store providing a range of goods. It is also a local hub where people can pop in for a cup a tea and slice of cake with friends.

Located at 533 Manchester Road, the shop is open between 7am and 7pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 1pm Sunday. Why not pop in and say hello to the teams of volunteers who help run the shop?
